Won't get into the details because we'll be here all day. There will be times when we HAVE to see a doctor. Weather its an ingrown toe nail, or something big like open heart surgery. This reminds me of a verse in the Bible. This is the savior speaking and He mentions something similar. The sick need not a physician. Think about it. If we are not sick, or broken a bone we don't see a doctor. Just like if we haven't done anything wrong we don't repent. BUT if we have an ingrown toe nail and its starting to get infected we WILL see podiatrist.
When we sin, we are sick and we have broken something. Not physically but something spiritual. The verse reads "they that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick." "I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." The Great Doctor, and healer of our souls has come to help us. To heal us, and to protect us. The commandments are not a barrier, or something to drag us down. They are but a protection. If we read King Benjamin's angelic discourse we are told to "consider the happy and blessed state of those who KEEP the commandments." Elder Kearon of the Seventy gave a talk that reminds me of this principle.
Still there will be a time when we DO break one of these barriers that protect us, but we have the Lord Jesus Christ that will help us rebuild it. Jesus has come to call us all sinners to repent and He will take us in His arms. His arms are always extended and welcome all. Elder Andersen of the Twelve Apostles gave a talk titles "Repent... That I may heal you" and its a call to all of us that need healing. Only the Savior can heal us from our sins, only He can restore peace to our soul, and fix a broken heart.
Luke 15:7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repented, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

Another excellent blog post! I love the analogies that you use to illustrate the point that sometimes we all need to see the Doctor - the Master Physician - the Great Healer. Thank you for sharing this.
